The call for submission of project proposals “Promotion of sustainable development of natural heritage” was published within the Operational Program “Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014 – 2020.” published by the Ministry of Regional Development and Funds. The project was financed by the European Fund for Regional Development.

The project includes the construction of:
1. Visitor center in Dugopolje
2. Interpretation infrastructures Mosor-Sjever – it is a path through nature with its central educational “resort”, ideal for school in nature and pleasant tourist sightseeing.
3. Interpretation infrastructures Mosor-South – it is a path through nature with its central educational “resort”, ideal for school in nature and pleasant tourist sightseeing.
4. Interpretation Info Point – Maslina (Olive) – At the location of the century-old olive tree in Kaštel Štafilić, a kind of educational “resort” will be created, ideal for school in nature and pleasant tourist sightseeing.
The goals of the project are:
– Development of educational-interpretation infrastructure in order to create a visitor management system and sustainable tourism valorization of elements of natural heritage
– Improving the tourist visibility of protected parts of nature
– Increasing awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting natural heritage among visitors
The project will include interpretation of the habitat at different scales; from microhabitats such as can be found inside the Olive tree, through mesohabitats in the karst underground (speleological objects) and the highly dissected karst surface to macrohabitats on the Mosor mountain. That is, in the Natura 2000 area, which includes the natural monument in the town of Kaštela – Olive tree in Kaštel Štafilić, and Mosor as an area of the Natura 2000 ecological network that partially overlaps with the area of Mosor, Kozjak and Trogirska zagora.
